Watch the film showing the view in 1927 as Poole's new bridge is opened. It looks as if everybody in Poole (and their dog) turned out to celebrate the day. The town officials were certainly there, having walked in procession from the Guildhall.
Even the gods attended - look out for a statue of Neptune being taken under the bridge on the back of one of the steam launches.
