Anthony Caro was an English abstract sculptor who rose to fame in the 1950s. His work often uses industrial objects bolted and welded together to create 'assemblages' of metal.
Sea Music is a later, large-scale installation piece.
By making a sculpture without a plinth, Caro lets us interact with the piece from every angle. The sculpture invites people to stand on its surface and look again at the sea, the harbour and the town.
